About us

We are a remote-first company from Belgium building products and SaaS teams since 2008 with love, a lot of it.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do

Therefore, we only work on projects that are at the heart of our client's business. We love it most when they are critical — when the business of our client really depends on it.

Shaping products and teams

That's what we do best. Together with the client, we build the digital products and teams that will grow and improve their business. We don't content ourselves with the products our clients want; we develop the products we know they need.

Remote first

Our biggest strength is that we don't believe in physical borders. The globe is our playground. We are a remote-first company and strongly believe in the powers of this. We educate our friends and clients with our remote mindset hoping they can enjoy the benefits as much as we do.

Being aware of our footprint

One of the downsides of being a remote team is that every now and then we need to jump a plane to visit clients, conduct audits, or have fun at our yearly company retreat. Since 2019, we compensate for the carbon footprint of each and every madewithlove air mile. We're also looking for more ways to help our environment.

Free Range Management

Free Range Management can be summed up in two words: create space. The trick is doing that in a way where employees and managers are happy. Steve Tauber and Andreas Creten wrote a guide to managing knowledge workers, structuring teams, and shaping the work so that an organization can find success. This resulted in Free Range Management, the book.

Diversity

We believe more diversity will make us a stronger, more interesting company.

Although we have struggled in the past to avoid homogeny, we have refocused our efforts. Read about our current situation, why diversity matters to us, and how we plan to change the status quo.

The details about inclusion

The stronger the culture, the less corporate process a company needs. When the culture is strong, you can trust everyone to do the right thing.

These are our values

Humans are our capital

Madewithlove’s team is our most important asset. We focus on individual growth and happiness, forming an exceptional group of people who love what they do. If this just sounds like a load of hot air, please read on.

Office not required

An internet company's team should embrace different cultures and views. That's our view. So we ignore country borders when searching for talent. Why worry where people work if they do a good job? We're proud of our self-built network of strong communication and planning tools. Together they allow our international team to work from almost anywhere in this wifi connected world. If they want to meet up, chat, and plot the future with local colleagues – that's fine too. We run cosy and spacious offices in two Belgian cities. And our coffee is famously free, fresh, and of great quality.

Quality comes first

Delivering quality digital products, for the heart of your business, is what drives us daily. Efficient, agile, and reliable – these products do what they should and they do it without hassle.

The Word

Every company has its bible. For us, it's ‘Getting Real’ by Jason and David, the founders of Basecamp. This book describes perfectly why we skip all the stuff that merely represents real (charts, boxes, graphs, etc.) and actually build the real thing. Staying small and being agile are crucial. We deliver just what clients need and eliminate anything they don't.

Top notch staff

Being honest

Honesty is the best policy. It's good for our team and our clients. We tell the truth all the time, even when the message is unlikely to raise a smile. Giving constructive feedback is crucial to maintaining a nice and open company culture, not to mention positive relationships with our clients.

Client selection

We don't mean to sound arrogant, but before saying ‘yes’ to a client, we need to absolutely believe in the project and its feasibility. The product should be the core of their business – not part of a side business or a support thing – so we have the client's natural buy-in. In the end, the client must be willing and able to support and develop the product themselves by building their own team.

Directness

Let's share what we know

Agreed, this sounds a bit cheesy. Yet, it represents perfectly how we think about knowledge in our business. And we absolutely love sharing. If you're interested in hearing how we created our culture, give us a call and we'll be more than happy to talk about it!

Open source

Knowledge is our bread and butter. We happily share some of our work, tools, and expertise with the developer community. We firmly believe that results can improve for everyone whenever people work openly and in a spirit of collaboration.
